St. Patrick’s Day is always a fun occasion to celebrate and luckily this year will be very easy to coordinate outfits because the pantone colour of the season is Emerald Green. Neon colours are huge this season, but I’m excited to see this shade outshining others, because year after year colours, such as pink, blue and yellow, take the limelight. With that said, this weekend is a perfect opportunity to shop and focus on this beautiful shade to try on and stand out from the ‘default’ colours everyone else is wearing! I think it’s no ‘luck’ the Irish are so stylish; fashion is being individual and standing out from the crowd with confidence, beautiful colours that often get overlooked is a perfect palette to do just that. St. Paddy’s day will be a fun day/night as usual, but when you’re holding your green beer this year, hold it in style!

My style is very feminine, with that said my “go-to” staple is the maxi skirt. It’s my favourite article to wear because wherever I’m going I can dress up my maxi in the snap of a finger. The maxi skirt can take you from day to night and with spring around the corner, what better opportunity do you need to transition into the new season with a skirt? If you’ve never owned a maxi skirt, opt for a solid neutral colour with a high waist; it’s very flattering with a feminine silhouette. For a casual event, my favourite way to wear my maxi skirt is with a simple t-shirt, statement necklace and a fitted leather jacket; it’s effortlessly cool, comfortable and, of course, fashionable. Maxi skirts are so beautiful dressed up, with a beautiful embellished blouse, belt and pumps, you’re sure to be the belle of the ball.

As temperatures lower, we tend to get into the habit of layering multiple pieces and sometimes go a littler overboard, resulting in a more frumpy than trendy look. Who says you have to stash away those cute minis just to bear the cold? The skater skirt is inspired by figure skaters, whom themselves year round dash out onto the ice for performance in flared miniskirts with a tight waistline, creating a flirtatious and playful look. This elegant skirt is figure flattering for any body type, creating the illusion of a smaller waistline and slimmer hips. Versatile for a variety of pairing tops, the skater skirt is especially paired perfectly with those comfy oversized knits or when rocked with a ladylike blouse.

Shown on many catwalks for Fall/Winter 2012, from designers such as Stella McCartney to Victoria Beckham, this structured piece is a wardrobe essential, updating your closet with some modern sass. With our festive picks, it is guaranteed you’ll score that perfect 10 at the office Christmas party or date night out – no landed triple axel necessary.

The holiday season can get pretty overwhelming, trying to cross everyone off of your list, attending countless events while still maintaining your sanity. One way I cut down on the stress is to multitask with my holiday wardrobe. The difficult part is finding the pieces that are able to transition from the conservative office to a fun, fresh evening look. Lucky for us, many Canadian retailers have the same idea. I personally love Jacob and Club Monaco clothing; I find their attire to be so fun and feminine, yet conservative and classic at the same time. Another store worth checking out is Canada’s leading department store, The Bay which carries a wide range of designer brands from high to low end apparel including two of my favorite lines, Top Shop and BCBG MAX AZRIA. Don’t fret if you can’t make it out to the busy malls, check out websites like net-a-porter.com which offers a range of amazing designer clothing. No matter what you choose, these brands will help you look fabulous from day to night.

Enchant your wardrobe this season with emblazoned embellishments on the prettiest party skirts for 2012. Designers let loose with decorations on the fall runways by adorning pieces in ornate embellishments like intricate embroidery, floral appliqués and bejeweled trimmings. To get your shine on, dazzle onlookers in a playful piece like a pretty party skirt for sophisticated standout sparkle. From glistening gildings in the shape of sequins, crystals, beads and studs to textural trimmings in soft feathers and three dimensional designs, no holiday soiree or festivity is complete without the gleaming glamour of an embellished skirt. With an accent here and a glisten there, your wardrobe shines in the spotlight with sparkling metallics, shimmering jewels and luxurious textures thanks to intricate and ornate craftsmanship this season.

Luxe leather and skirts team up in a variety of new contemporary cuts and cool colours with unconventional finishes like animal skins, woven stitching and quilting for a versatile piece that works throughout the season for day or night.
